Pallottine Mission Work in the Philippines

Dear Friend of St. Jude,

Fr. PeterI ask for your urgent help for our brothers and sisters in the Philippines.  These poor families lost everything when Typhoon Haiyan smashed through their country.  Now struggling in the aftermath of the destruction, many of these survivors need help and hope.

Please pray that through the powerful intercession of St. Jude that these gentle people — so devastated by the violent typhoon — don’t lose hope.  May the hope they have be strengthened.  Will you pray this simple prayer with me…

St. Jude, through your intercession, we ask that the people in the Philippines be strong, not despair and trust in our Lord.  Give them the grace to be resilient and know in their hearts they are not abandoned.  We ask this through Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Our Pallottine missionaries live and serve on Negros Island, part of the Philippines.  The island experienced strong winds, heavy rains and flooding.  Father Binay, who lived through the disaster, reports…

We are very grateful to God that only one life was lost on this island due to the typhoon.  There were damages but not like those in Tacloban.  Several fishermen lost their boats.  Some houses were damaged and standing crops destroyed. We lost our electricity for a few days and an electric pole fell on our church roof causing a little damage.  Let us pray that through the grace of God the people who are homeless due to the typhoon may find shelter and other help soon. — Father Binay

Our priests and brothers are a center of help and hope right now for our brothers and sisters in the Philippines.  We are working with outreach groups to help parishes in the worst hit areas.

In support of the work our Pallottine missionaries do in the Philippines and around the world, I am hoping that we can count on your gift now for these vital ministries.  Whatever amount your heart moves  you to send will make a difference in their lives and the people they serve.

Our missionaries stand side by side in prayer with the people who lost loved ones and with families trying to start over and rebuild.

I invite you to share your intentions — those deep within  your heart — on our prayer and petitions page.  Our missionaries will remember them in our prayers and at Mass as we reach out to those in need of healing…and those who feel lost and without hope.  I also pray that you will send an offering — whatever is right for you today.  Your gift is a beacon of light shining in the darkness — filling the world with Christ’s love and bringing hope where there is none.

Your gift today helps support all of our ministries, particularly our St. Jude Shrine and the poor we serve.  Please be as generous as possible, and don’t forget to send your prayer requests so they may be remembered in the prayers and novenas at our Shrine.

Wishing you the Hope of St. Jude,

Fr. Peter Sticco, S.A.C.
